To mark the ‘Year of Zayed’, royal photographer Ramesh Shukla has unveiled an exhibit of 22 rare photos of the UAE’s founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
In an interview with CNN’s Becky Anderson, Shukla talks about his long and illustrious career.
He first met Sheikh Zayed at a desert camel race after cycling 18 miles from his home just for a chance to photograph him. He then went on to picture the royal at several state and private occasions over the next few decades.
The exhibition is organised by his son Neel Shukla, who scanned the “archive of thousands of images” and restored the special ones.
