Wind Tower

Product details:
Code: RM_103

Description:
A heritage in stone, the windtowers of Bastakia were built to capture any passing breeze and send to its cooling draughts down into the interiors of the house. Four-sided, the towers would catch the wind from any directions -and the taller they were the more efficiently they functioned. The attractive, decorative plaster-work panels were a means of ventilating the house without losing privacy-combining aesthetic appeal with practicality. Incorporating elements of traditional Islamic design, no two are identical yet each contributes to a sense of uniformity in the building as a whole. The projecting wooden poles, chandals, often served as ready-made scaffolding for maintenance.
